About Dr. Tess Leonard
Dr. Tess Leonard, a native of Oklahoma, moved to Friday Harbor, San Juan Island in 1989 and fell in love with the island. In 1992 she began undergraduate studies in Olympia, Washington. In 1995 she started her pre-vet work at Oklahoma State University, with plans of returning to San Juan Island as a community veterinarian.
Dr. Leonard received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2000 from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. In 2001 she completed a post-graduate year at Oklahoma State Veterinary Teaching Hospital and began working in private practice.
In April, 2003 'Dr. Tess' opened Lighthouse Veterinary HouseCalls and has since been deeply gratified to be in the service of the people and pets of San Juan Island. Dr. Tess lives with her husband John and her dog Abby. She loves traveling, sailing, and camping. She dreams of learning to tap dance!
